Much as we love our dogs they can present us with a raft of challenging behaviours. Behaviour is driven by emotion so it is imperative to deep dive into the workings of your dog's mind to begin to unravel any issues.
Some issues are easily resolved with some additional training. Training your dog needs to be an ongoing thing and not something which is only done when your dog is a puppy. It is important that you choose a trainer who only uses reward based methods. Positive training is a lot more effective than punishment which can ultimately damage the relationship, trust and bond you have with your dog and can actually make the problem worse.
For more complex unwanted behaviours a qualified behaviourist will be required. A behaviourist will assess and work with your dog's emotions and general mood state and will help you to change your dog's outlook on life.
A Dog Trainer will train a dog to perform a specific task such as sit , lie down or walk nicely on a lead. A Dog Behaviourist specialises more emotional problems and feelings, for example fear or frustration which can lead to dogs behaving in ways which are often very challenging to other animals or the people around them.
Some of the unwanted behaviours that we have been asked to help with and which humans tend to find the most frustrating are:
Fear of Noise
Separation related issues
Destructive behaviours
Barking
Chewing
House soiling
Jumping at people
Travel anxiety
Biting
Digging
Growling and Biting
